Art Institute of Chicago

One of the great art places of the world, the Art Institute of Chicago is a stunning museum that houses a comprehensive collection of world art that spans thousands of years. Located in Grant Park, the Art Institute of Chicago boasts 300,000 works of art, significant collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings and drawings and a famed collection of 20th-century art. From contemporary and modern American art to ancient Asian and African art, the museum's galleries and exhibits will inspire. Permanent Exhibits

The Art Institute of Chicago features changing exhibitions and amazing collections of American and European contemporary and modern art, as well as art from Asia, Africa and around the globe. The museum houses a famed collection of European paintings, from the 12th through the 20th centuries, and French Impressionist works, including 30 by Claude Monet. See iconic modern works such as Picasso's Old Guitarist; Matisse's Bathers by a River; Magritte's Time Transfixed, and O'Keeffe's Black Cross. Fans of contemporary art will find paintings by Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Rothko and Andy Warhol.

Group Tours

Groups, schools and families can enjoy docent-led guided tours and lectures that help you learn and make connections with the works of art. Docent-led tours are available on weekdays and some Saturdays, on a first-come, first served basis. Dost docent-led tours are one hour long.

  • Is there dining?

    Yes. Enjoy dining at Terzo Piano, a beautiful restaurant that serves authentic Italian cuisine and simple, elegant dishes using local, organic, and sustainable foods. Headed by Chef Tony Mantuano, Terzo Piano is a wonderful dining experience where you can gather around a table to enjoy casual lunches, gourmet dinners or a glass of wine after you explore the galleries.   • How do I get there using public transportation?

    The Art Institute of Chicago is one mile from the hotel, so you can either walk or hop on the CTA bus for a 10-minute ride. The best way to get there is via public transportation by hopping on the Grand stop red line toward 95th/Dan Ryan and getting off at Monroe. The 151 Sheridan bus also brings you to their doorstep. You can ride the Brown, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple lines to the Adams/Wabash and Madison/Wabash stations which are closest to this amazing place.
